QUESTION: Assalamualaikum, thank you for having me. In Islam, we are taught that taking interest in any form prohibited. So are we suppose to reject the interest we earn in our Central Provident Fund (CPF) yearly? – Anonymous, Singapore

ANSWER: The cpf interest is haram because it is considered usury in Islam. What you can do with the money is to give it to charitable muslim organization for its disposal. This is recommended but it cannot be considered as sadaqah.
